There will be a plethora of conference activities aimed at students’ professional development, including events to meet professionals, learn how to find wildlife jobs, and socialize with other students.

Student Activities at the Conference

• Career Fair - bring your resume and professional attire. Employers from local and national agencies, from government to non-profits, will be accepting resumes and discussing career options with students. Mentors will be present to help with the Wildlife Certification process, a valuable tool and resume builder.
• Student Travel Grants - see how to apply
• Student-Professional Mixer - students can interact with hundreds of professionals that work throughout North America.
• Student Mentor Session - Meet your mentor to learn more about the wildlife profession. This session also includes four discussions, each in different groups. There will be reserved time for the entire group to network at the end.
• Student Leaders Breakfast - Three members from each school will have a catered breakfast. This breakfast provides a way for TWS to disseminate information to all student chapters and then allows for a discussion both on the topic presented and chapter’s struggles and successes.
• Student Research-in-Progress Poster Session - allows both finished and in-progress research to be presented to peers and professionals for advice and recognition.
• Awards for Best Student Presentation and Best Student Poster will recognize two student presenters - one from each category.
• Quiz Bowl - a fun and exciting event where you can watch schools demonstrate their knowledge of wildlife.
• Student/Professional Working Group meeting - we need your advice to make TWS beneficial for students in future years at both the national conference and local settings. Consider joining the working group ($5 membership fee) and your opinions will be represented at the national level. Come to this meeting to learn about upcoming plans.
• Volunteering - volunteers are needed to assist at the registration desk, the conference store, runners during special events, etc. Volunteers may be compensated for offering their time and services to this conference.

In addition to these opportunities, there are 4 days of contributed papers, posters, and field trips.
